My client is a special school for children with severe learning difficulties. A full-time maternity cover position has arisen for a Senior HR Advisor to join their small and friendly HR team. The role is working within the care and education sector.  This is a critical role for an experienced, skilled and motivated HR professional to support the activities of the Director of HR by taking the lead on daily HR operational people and employment issues for circa 185 employees. You will also support the Recruitment Co-ordinator & Recruitment Assistant.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• To develop, build and maintain collaborative relationships with service areas, establishing professional credibility

• To prepare regular monthly ad hoc management information reports for Director of HR and take action where necessary e.g. headcount, turnover, exit interview data. 

• To respond promptly to staff enquiries, assisting and guiding them where appropriate

• To work with the Director of HR in designing and delivering HR-related training and education  events on HR policy and procedural issues

• To support the implementation of a number of identified HR projects to ensure that delivery is timely and on budget

• To work with the Director of HR in reducing the number of employee relations issues by continually improving HR processes 

• To provide professional HR advice, support and coaching to all service areas on a range of issues including: disciplinary and grievance, capability, terms and conditions of employment, maternity and paternity/shared parental leave, flexible working, change management and HR  best practice.

• To support performance management within the School context and wider charity, coaching line managers on performance management issues and processes

• Ensure all policies and procedures are up to date in line with current employment law.

• To work with the Director of HR in improving staff engagement

• Participate in interviews to support the HR team where necessary

The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials including a degree or CIPD qualification. You must be able to demonstrate thorough up to date HR knowledge on best practice and employment legislation, have experience of working with complex employee relations cases, employee engagement initiatives, and change management projects. Minimum experience is 2 years in an HR Generalist role. You should also have a strong business acumen, resourcefulness and creativity in developing initiatives along with heaps of energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour.
